Marketing Interns Hired at Accelerated Genetics (6/9/06)

Sarah Zavodny has been selected as the Accelerated Genetics Region 12 Sales and Services Intern this summer. Zavodny has completed the Accelerated Genetics artificial insemination and sales training course and will service customers in western Wisconsin and southeastern Minnesota.

Zavodny hails from Boyceville Wisconsin where she grew up on a 40-cow Holstein farm and worked as a farm assistant at Homestead Hills Dairy. However her work experience does not end in Boyceville. She has also worked in the seed-testing department at Bio-Diagnostics in River Falls WI.

She attends the University of Wisconsin-River Falls and is majoring in Dairy Science and minoring in Agronomy. At college she is active in The Intervarsity Christian Fellowship and the Crops and Soils club.

Doug Sattazahn of Womelsdorf Pennsylvania has been selected as the Accelerated Genetics Eastern United States Sales and Service Intern. Sattazahn has completed the Accelerated Genetics artificial insemination and sales training course. He will cover southeastern Pennsylvania and his responsibilities will include semen sales and marketing surveys.

Sattazahn grew up on Zahncroft Farm in Berks County Pennsylvania where he helps out with all aspects of the farm including milking his family?s 60 Registered Holsteins and Brown Swiss. In addition he works as an assistant herdsman at Fairbrook Farms in Centre County.

He will use this previous experience to obtain an Animal Science Degree from Pennsylvania State University next May. At college he participates in Dairy Science Club and was the chairman of the Nittany Lion Fall Classic Sale. He is also very active in the Holstein Association.

Accelerated Genetics has selected Ryan Shank of Hagerstown MD as the Eastern United States Sales and Services Intern. He grew up on a 130-cow Ayrshire and Holstein farm and worked with 70-head of Angus at Arrowhead Farms. Shank attends Delaware Valley College where he is pursuing a Dairy Science degree and a business minor.

While at college he is active in many organizations. He has held offices in Alpha Gamma Rho Dairy Society and Collegiate FFA. He also co-chaired the 2005-2006 College Dairy Society Sale and competed on the livestock judging team. He also participated in cross-country and was selected the 2003 team MVP.

Shank has completed the Accelerated Genetics artificial insemination and sales training course. During the summer he will assist sales representatives in Maryland and southern Pennsylvania by selling semen and recruiting new customers.

Joe Sarbacker of Verona Wisconsin will be serving as the Accelerated Genetics Sales and Services Intern for Region 14 which covers south-central and southwestern Wisconsin. He has completed the Accelerated Genetics artificial insemination and training course and will assist in relief work and semen sales.

Sarbacker grew up on Fischerdale Holsteins which consists of 140 Registered Holsteins. He is very active in the Wisconsin Junior Holstein Association. He was recently named the 2005-2006 Wisconsin Outstanding Holstein Boy and was selected as a National Semi-Finalist in the Distinguished Junior Member competition. In addition he served for two years on the Wisconsin Junior Activities Committee coordinating the state Junior Holstein events.

He is active in many activities at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he is pursuing a degree in Dairy Science with a business minor. At college he is a member of Badger Dairy Club and Alpha Gamma Rho.

Jake Cramer of Watertown Wisconsin will be serving as the Accelerated Genetics Sales and Services Intern for Region 16 which covers north-central and eastern Wisconsin. He has completed the Accelerated Genetics artificial insemination and training course and will assist in relief A.I. breeding and semen sales.

Cramer grew up on a small dairy farm where he is still involved with various aspects of the farm and takes great interest in sire selection program. Currently he is attending the University of Wisconsin-River Falls where he is double majoring in Agricultural Education and Dairy Science.

At college Cramer is active in the UW-RF Dairy Judging Team UW-RF Ag Ed Society Collegiate FFA and Delta Theta Sigma fraternity. He also has work experience as assistant herdsman and milking assistant at two other farm operations in the Watertown Wisconsin area. In addition Cramer served as the Wisconsin FFA State Sentinel in 2004-05.

Accelerated Genetics Marketing Services Intern will be Leah Johnson. She has completed the Accelerated Genetics sales training course and will be responsible for selecting and picturing sire daughters. She will also assist the Marketing Services Director in organizing tours for domestic and international groups.

Johnson is from La Crescent Minnesota. She resides on her family farm Pine Creek Farms which consists of: 110 cows and 600 acres. She is very active with youth programs being the Winona County Dairy Judging Coach and a Pierce County 4-H Assistant.

She attends the University of Wisconsin-River Falls where she is pursuing a degree in Agriculture Education. She is involved in college activities such as: Sigma Alpha Dairy Club Alpha Tau Alpha Agriculture Communicators of Tomorrow and UW-River Falls Dairy Judging Team. She is also a member of the first place judging team at the 2005-2006 North American International Livestock Exposition.
